Getting Winterised

Getting ready for the cold weather.

As the days become shorter, darkness comes early, the chilling winds breathe into each room, entering under doors and rain falls heavily, slicing through clothing and aching bones. Fires start to glow; smoke hangs over houses and fills lungs with heat and nostalgia. The warm blankets are pulled out from big cupboards smelling of a thousand memories in winter. Feet find slippers; toes curling into the soft sheep’s wool inside- soup simmering on stoves as kettles happily boil away. Glimmering lights stir every now and again in the settling frost, mist hanging over the trees and houses sheltering their families against the ensuing blue of Winter.
